.Asia, domain name suffix which being organized by The DotAsia Organization is about to become 5 days of age tomorrow. Since its launching on October 2007 and go live in March 26 2008 of course there should be something (unique or great) had happened on it.

What was that?

Stephen Chow (remember Shaolin Soccer) use it for his new comedy film, CJ7 (http://www.cj7.asia). Very cool.

Hong Kong celebrities to be the first artist who used it. check it out here: andyhui.asia, chageaska.asia, justin.asia, ellakoon.asia, miki.asia, c-hing.asia. How about your asian stars like F4? Well, f4.asia has not yet been registered till nowadays. Go head, tell Jerry or Vanessa to catch it up!

Bollywood stars also jump on to this wagon; the Indian legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, pop diva Shibani Kashyap, TV star Rakshanda Khan, ‘Indian Idol’ Rahul Vaidya, and Channel [V] VJ Anoushka. Others will follow.

Some of the famous company to join this domain name are; sonyericcson.asia, time.asia, aig.asia, amazon.asia.

300.000 domain applications in landrush’s open period. 505,838 domain when it’s closed.

Domain ace.asia is to be the most expensive which cost its owner with US$20,501.

Over 130 countries around the world had participated in the .Asia Sunrise, submitting over 30,000 applications to date.

Good things beyond

.Asia domain is probably the best alternative for famous guys like Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol, Ajay Devgun, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, and Kapil Dev since none of them own their domain names. Especially in .com suffix.

Enough about those data. If I want to secure my favorite domain name, where can I buy and register it?

Follow this link and you’ll know what you want to do exactly.

For The Asia Tech Reader; “Have a nice domain name … “

Muh. Nuh: We will block the porn sites ….

Tomorrow or April 1st, probably is such a historical moment in Indonesian IT milestones since Indonesian government is going to start blocking porn sites (and blogs should be too) which annoying their people.

Prof Ir Mohammad Nuh DEA, Minister of Communication and Information said to Kompas (Bahasa Indonesia version) that he wished this process (blocking) would finished in May this year.

Apparently, this blocking process was not accidentally happen though. There is a technical specific background or reason lies beyond this. So, it is not just a moral issue which count here.

Nuh also added that this action is as a preparation before government launch its special service for high school in Indonesia which magnificently could doubled up Indonesian internet penetration from 25 million to 50 million users (25% out of Indonesian population). Wow, that could make Singaporean and Malaysian become underestimate in term of quantity (20 times bigger than Singapore’s internet penetration).

But how will they do it? Is it possible to block all that adult sites? Even Mr. Nuh seems to be not so optimistic about this. However, there are three levels of solutions which he thought could make this classical problem didn’t get even worse.

Level one; government hopes that people don’t visit all of the (adult or porn) sites. Uppps …. actually, this is the real problem to be solve.

Level two; government will cooperate (I think ‘ask’ is a more appropriate word for this) those high schools or departments to install such a special anti-porn software (Bahasa Indonesia). Nuh’s department will provide this software for free in their site which unfortunately not very good in security after recently it’s being attacked by Indonesian crackers.

Level three; government will ask the ISPs (Internet Service Provider) to block all the porn sites. Yep, I do agree with this one.

Level four; (just a suggestion); Indonesian should internationally cooperate with other government (Japan and USA for example) whose citizen are suspected to be the owner of those sites. Yeah, this is probably what my minister didn’t yet even think about.

Level five: I haven’t yet think about this. Help me (my country) please?

One question to close this post. How many times do we open those babes there in a day (or hour)?

For now and then; Indonesia will join other Asia’s countries like China, India, and South Korea.

This forum is a place for large firms, startups and SME, investors, governments, and academia to meet and share their view on business and technology.

Some of the speakers you need to watch there are Petri Liuha (Laboratory Director, Computation Structures, Nokia Research Centre) and VG (Vasudeo) Gujrathi (Senior GM Engineering Research Centre, TATA Motors).
This is a remarkable achievement for Dubai since more and more international conference will be held there.

For web sites, Fitna is a traffic bomber, but for the web administrator, it is just looked like a decoy of their death .
Two India’s top Supply Chain Management software company, Take Solutions and Four Soft plan to merge to create a larger software company.

Mr. H.R. Srinivasan said that if this merger is really occur, the name of this company will be just “Take Solutions”. This Hyderabad and Chennai combination will make them stronger in term of intellectual property and market share.

More power in Supply Chain Management!

Take Solutions largest market share comes from US and Asia pacific while Four Soft, fortunately comes from Europe and Japan. So there is no crash among them in term of customers geography.

Take Solutions, which recently announced as Deloitte’s India’s 12th fastest growing technology company has been dealing with some of the big company such as Cisco, Parle and Brittania. While its couple, Four Soft is even more successful in the 10th place, two rate beyond Take Solutions. Four Soft clients including TNT, Emery and DHL.

Of course, this unification will create a truly global, comprehensive company with one of the largest product offerings in Supply Chain Management. Special for customers, now they will have a chance to see a fast delivery of the most effective and extensive products and solutions through superior speed, technology and innovation.

On our previous post March 22nd, an Israeli’s company has signed up a deal to open their photomask center in Taiwan. And now, other foreign company based on St. Paul, Minnesota, H.B. Fuller will establish their regional lab in Shanghai.

This lab will focus on reactive chemistry and help the company to promote their product development and localization of initiatives in key markets such as performance wood, encompassing window, flooring and Textile which includes footwear.

H.B. Fuller park. Wish the lab will look like this one!

The site for this lab has not been decided though. But HB Fuller plans to make it happen later in this year.

For Asian, the reason from its CEO, Michele Volpi is worth enough to be read:

“We are committed to accelerating growth in this important region, and the addition of a lab is a critical step, By basing technical support in Shanghai, rather than sourcing it from other regions, we can better serve customers, add value to our offerings, and foster innovation.”

I do agree … but a question remain; do they still going to open their lab in China if Chinese workers wanted a big salary?

That large amount of number is delivered by Springboard Research , The IT market research and advisory firm. This US-based firm also said that India is to be the fastest growing IT services while China is taking the largest regional opportunity by 2011.

Phil Hassey, Its vice president added that the markets of interest are not just about the classical four - China, India, Australia, and Korea - but also take place in Indonesia and Vietnam.

Here is the top ten countries according to this research based on Market Attractiveness Index:

People’s Republic of China

India

Australia

Korea

Indonesia

Vietnam

Malaysia

Rest of ASEAN

Singapore

Philippines

In this period (2007 to 2011), The fastest growth element in IT service will be Application Hosting. However, the largest one is still belongs to Enterprise Application Integration.

What about Outsourcing? Well, in 2007 this is the largest market but since Chinese firms do not interested very much in this, it will reduce automatically by then.

Hmmm, a quantity (note: China population) that matter!
